There were a lot of memes last year; some were funny, while others were not. But which one was the best? As middle schoolers, our everyday vocabulary consists mostly of what we see online. Our definition of memes differs significantly from that of older generations, which makes it unique and on the border of either extremely obnoxious or hilarious.
Arguably, the best meme of 2025 is 67. 67 lasted the whole year after Maverick Trevillian, better known as “67 Kid,” went viral for posting a video at a basketball game, hitting a specific hand gesture, yelling 67. This soon was recognized as a line from the song “Doot Doot” by Skrilla.
Another reappearing meme that has been seen since 2018 is “John Pork.” This meme originated with the phrase “John Pork is calling,” accompanied by a specific image of a FaceTime call from John Pork. It soon evolved, adding other characters to the story, such as Tim Cheese, described as a hitman responsible for the murder of John Pork. This murder made the internet go crazy. Everyone has different opinions, but the lore goes deeper than anyone knows.
The worst trend of 2025 has to be Labubus; they are creepy and have been accused of being demonic. Labubus arose from the younger generation as a fashion statement or trend that made everyone want one. They soon started to get the knockback of hate from older generations, saying they’re ugly and creepy and not cute at all.
Italian brainrot is an AI-generated character with a peculiar name that gained popularity on various apps, including TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, eventually leading to the popular game “Steal a brainrot.” This was also one of the worst trends, considering that they sound like random gibberish words.
One of the best edible trends was definitely the Dubai Chocolate. It became so popular that ice cream and other treats were flavored like it. The flavor and texture are so good, and they put the whole thing together. This definitely deserves the popularity it got!
These are only a few of the many trends that 2025 had to offer! But it still begs the question, which one stands above all? With its impressive longevity and transition into 2026, “67” arguably claims the title of the best meme of 2026.
