When you think of cafeteria food you might immediately think about gross and unappetizing food that’s almost inedible but is that really the case in KLMS, or in reality is the food not only nutritious, but also enjoyable.
Instead of packing lunch from home most students eat from the cafeteria with a minimum amount for a meal being 3 dollars, but when it comes to the quality of the food there are mixed opinions from students.
Seventh grader Regina Carbajal thinks that the food quality isn’t the best and while some of the food being served isn’t bad some meals like the chicken nuggets for example have a weird and mushy texture that’s a bit unpleasant.
Whether a meal is enjoyable or not, depends on the texture, appearance and if all of the flavors blend together properly, this is because when we see the food put in front of us our brain anticipates how something tastes based on the appearance and visual texture of the food, when the flavors are well balanced it’ll leave a pleasant taste making you want more.
Seventh grader Medha Nair says that the pizza being served is overwhelming due to the fact that the crust can be described as “hard as a rock” and because of the amount of sauce that takes over the entire flavor causing it to become less enjoyable.
If there is one meal that a majority of people enjoy, it definitely has to be the nachos which are a classic that can almost never go wrong.
Seventh grader Clara Andry said that what she likes about the nachos are how the chips aren’t too salty and how the cheese has a nice rich flavor and texture that’s actually enjoyable.
Even though there are some meals that can use improvements, most of the meals like the nachos are enjoyable and have a good overall balance in all of the main factors
In my opinion the cafeteria food has its good and bad aspects like how the beef tacos have a good flavor that properly blend well with the vegetables while at the same time the some ingredients on some of the items being served can overpower the entire flavor.
