The 2024 film “Wicked” has skyrocketed in popularity since its release. With its traditional origin in the 1939 movie “The Wizard of Oz” produced by
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, people of all ages have swarmed this film like fruit flies to vinegar. Whether nostalgia, thrill, or simple enjoyment, Wicked has an obvious magnetism toward everyone.
With so many remarkable recommendations for this film, I not only desired, but felt obligated to understand other perspectives on it. I mean, it’s impossible for everyone to consider Wicked outstanding.
7th-grade student Tiana Ricks rated the movie an 8.5/10. She thought the plot was noteworthy, but the musical components were lacking.
“The music just ruined a lot about the movie’s potential,” Ricks said. “There were parts where [the music] was plain unnecessary.”
On the contrary to Ricks’s opinion, 8th-grade student Jada Nash believes that the music played in Wicked fits conscientiously to the film’s contents. Nash explicitly states her adoration for the film stems from the musical compound.
“I don’t really get why people harp on the music in Wicked. It is literally a musical!” Nash said. “Also, the songs aren’t even bad. I mean, you’re telling me that “Popular” sucks?!”
7th-grade student Rania Bari also expresses dislike towards the soundtrack played in Wicked. Bari made an absolute point that the actual appeal of each song in Wicked was adequate, but they were just streamed at unprofessional time-stamps during the film.
“I have a bit more of a neutral opinion of the [Wicked] soundtrack.” Bari said. “I mean, the songs are really good and modern, but they were just kind of excessive; even for a musical.”
