Do the Kelly Lane knights prefer summer or winter? This is a question that no one can agree on. I prefer winter because of the cold weather and the fashionable clothing. I don’t enjoy summer because of the scorching hot weather here in Texas.
Seventh grader Courtney Wells likes them equally. They both have pros and cons.
“I like them both, they both have advantages and disadvantages,” Wells said. “I can’t ever pick which I like more. I like winter because it is Christmas and I can play basketball and volleyball, but I also like summer because we don’t have school and I can play softball.”
Many of our Knights like to play sports, and summer is a great time for them. Seventh grader Ava Griffin is an avid soccer player and enjoys summer more because soccer is her favorite summer activity.
“In summer I can get bored so I like to play soccer,” Griffin said. “In winter it’s harder to get outside and play.”
Winter offers fun things to do, like drinking hot cocoa, baking and eating warm cookies, and participating in snow activities. Seventh grader Amara Nwankwo prefers winter over summer because of the holly festive activities she and her family do together.
“My family and I love to bake cookies and watch Christmas movies during the winter,” Nwanko said. “ I love spending time with my family, especially during the holiday season.”
Seventh grader Rylin Thompson prefers summer because of its fashion. Popular summer clothing can include wearing tank tops, shorts, flip-flops, etc.
“I prefer summer fashion because I love wearing jeans shorts and T-shirts,” Thompson said. “ I also love wearing bright colors and patterns during the summer.”
One bad thing we can all agree on is the terrible extreme weather in both summer and winter. Either extreme heat or extreme frigid temperatures can be dreadful. 7th grader Hanna Lim says because of the extreme weather in both seasons, it’s hard to choose a favorite.
“ I love summer, but the extreme heat can be horrible,” Lim said. “ I also enjoy winter, but sometimes the cold weather can just be too much.”
