Shopping has grown immensely over the past few decades, supplying the public with more variety and convenience. There is an obvious generational division between more modern and traditional shopping but there are many different opinions from different people when it comes to this.
When it comes to shopping, consumers have the option between online and in-store shopping, both with their own unique benefits and challenges, influencing how the public spends their money. Online shopping provides convenience and a wider selection of products. On the other hand, in-store shopping provides the ability to see and touch products beforehand and being able to socialize with other customers and staff which 7th grader Rylin Thompson loves.
“I prefer in store shopping because I love looking at the products and if I need to see if I like it or not and I can try it on to see if it fits me or not,” Thompson said. “I love to see and touch the stuff because I like to know whether I like the quality or not.”
Although there are many people who love shopping in-store, there are many who still prefer shopping online in the comfort of their own home as opposed to 7th grader Kendall Price.
“I like online shopping because it’s a lot easier to look at everything with a wide range of stuff,” Price said. “When shopping online I don’t have to leave my house and I can just look at everything from my bed.”
Online shopping is not always the best choice for there are many things that could drawback your package like, shipping delays and inaccurate products which can cause frustration. One of our other journalistic students, Teagan Dominguez, has experienced this.
“Once I waited three weeks for one pink little tube top just to find out it was stuck in customs,” Dominguez said. “Also when it got here it looked nothing like the photos online.”
One of the biggest advantages for in-store shopping is the convenience for consumers. That’s why one of our basketball players Lacey Balbuena likes in-store shopping.
“I love how handy in-store shopping is,” Balbuena said. “Like I could honestly just walk down the street to the gas station to get some snacks in my pajamas looking like a rat’s butt and no one would care.”
As there are advantages to shopping in-store there are also many when you shop online, offering convenience and accessibility in the world today where everyone is moving so fast as 7th grader Nico Stahl.
“Online shopping gives me the ability to look at everything from my bed because I hate sunlight,” Stahl said. “It gives me endless options to see and look at.”
Ultimately, the choice between online and in-store shopping depends on individual priorities and needs. Online excels in providing convenience, variety, and access to distinctive products. On the other hand in-store offers a real and immediate social interaction. Shopping habits will evolve even more throughout the next few years giving people even more options to shop allowing them to adjust their own shopping experiences.
