Throughout corporate history, women of all ages have been let down easy by the body of (typically male) bosses that run the workforce.
It is no revelation that women have been degraded by many men who drive the various industries of the world. That being said, keep in mind that not all men who run pay grades are misogynistic. There are many, many of them who foster equal and efficient business minds. That fact, unfortunately, does not change the financial reality.
According to a 2025 article revolving around the pay gap between women and men, not including other genders, women working full time earn 83% of what men do. Additionally
a second 2024 study found that as the occupation’s salary increases, the pay gap also increases. These studies are mathematical proof that the gender pay gap isn’t just some immature feminist fluke but a real, grave problem in the corporate world.
To include all factors, there are some possible perpetrators of the pay grade inequality. For example, the age at which women typically reach a business peak overlaps with the stage at which women start having children. Men have children as well, but they don’t get pregnant as females do. Pregnancy leaves and maternity leaves can become a rationale that causes pay grades to stagger. However, this truth isn’t completely impermeable, as men take paternity leaves too.
Egregiously, the gender pay gap was said to have technically started even before the beginning of civilization. The Industrial Revolution, however, was when the divide began to mushroom. As occupations started to populate around the U.S. and Great Britain, women started to pick up on the unfair operations. Around that period, the fact is unsurprising, as society was severely patriarchal and women were considered house pets. The kicker is that it still goes on today, which is inexcusable.
This frustrating reality isn’t all bad, however. As of 2025, women now earn roughly 20 more cents on average than in 1982. Although that percentage is still not enough, improvement is evident. Pay gap protests take place all around the world, each congregation including women and men. These protests attract attention from government officials and expose the agencies that adjust remuneration, or money earned for working, by sex.
You may think this issue is bad enough, and it is, but the pay gap is even worse for women of color. Racism is extremely prominent in the workforce along with sexism, and when compounded, can cause major and wrongful financial issues for women of color.
In fact, any race that isn’t white (mainly in America and Europe) is subject to stigma in various corporations. There have been countless accounts of ethnic men and women experiencing cultural prejudice and ostracization, especially women.
After a thorough deep dive into the world of corporate sexism/racism, the only topic left to discuss is the technique by which to cure this ill-suited disease. The first step is to simply spread awareness.
Protests, posters, anything that could circulate knowledge relating to the severity of the gender pay gap is the first step to bridging the divide. Committing to these practices is a demand to the government and media to bring down this global horridity.
Once the world is aware of the situation, controversy is likely to inflame. Despite this, with persistence and passion, the gap will narrow and be transferred to oblivion.
