The Official Baseball Opening Day was on Thursday March 27, with an average of 1.5 million people tuning into one game of baseball every day.
Baseball is a worldwide sport, however 30-50% of people lose interest in baseball in the middle of the season.
“I mean honestly it depends on how the Rangers are doing but that’s with any season,” eighth grade history teacher and coach John Alvarado said. “ If the Rangers aren’t doing well then I’ll kinda just check out of the season as a whole, Like maybe only look at big name games as opposed to like if the Rangers are doing well then I’ll be locked in like the entire season.”
With 162 games in one season of baseball, many teams have chances of losing and winning. Some teams are very successful and some are not because of their defects. Those defects contain of errors, not good hitting, and terrible defense.
“I don’t think we [Toronto Blue Jays] have any downsides,” seventh grader Treston Hinojosa said. “ The only thing I think is that we have a bad pitching staff.”
People love the players on their favorite team. People like: Aaron Judge, Corey Seager, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Bryce Harper. People can like a team just because of a player on the team.
“My favorite player on the Rangers is Corey Seager,” seventh grader Easton Arnold said. “ I like him so much because he’s so good at baseball.”
The Torpedo bat is playing a big role in baseball right now. A majority of people think that it is cheating while other people would think that it’s cool or should be allowed. As of now, the Torpedo bat is following MLB rules so the bat can not be banned by the MLB.
“No, I do not think it should be banned because it follows the rules,”eighth grader Cameron Lampley said. “ It’s basically taking the part that was on the end and putting it more on the barrel so you have more sweet spots so technically it’s not illegal.”
At the end of September the MLB season will come to a conclusion. The teams that we’re good enough throughout the season will compete for the World Series trophy and rings. People watch baseball just to see the World Series, on average 15.8 million people watched the World Series in the 2024 season.
“I would like to see the Padres and the Dodgers because so far they’re both undefeated,” eighth grader Cote’ Tullos said. “ They’re both undefeated and I think they both have a very good team overall.”
