This spring break, I went with my family on an unforgettable vacation to Africa. We had an amazing time exploring the wild on safaris and hiking through stunning landscapes.
I am so lucky to have travel parents and to be able to go on this trip. It was so fun; my brother was annoying as usual; the only sad part is that my sister couldn’t come. We went to Aquila Game Reserve and saw some cool animals like Baboons, Lions, Rhinos, Hippos, and Giraffes. We also went to Robben Island to see where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.
“My favorite part of the trip was our Airbnb and the view of the ocean outside of it, I’m so sad we had to leave.” Brook Rogers said.
Before we landed in Africa, we had a layover in London. When we landed in London we went to see my mom’s friend, and we tried to get on trains to go to our lunch reservation at Sky Garden. We kept getting on the wrong trains, and we were late too our reservation, but we still got a table, thankfully. But my mom’s friend couldn’t come in which was unfortunate. After that we went and explored London and we saw Big Ben, and we saw Buckingham Palace which was cool.
“London was cool, but it was very chilly outside and windy, which was worse, but it was a cool experience,” Brian Rogers said.
Africa was cool, but one thing that I was confused about was how much African food there is. When we were in Africa, we were in Cape Town, which is more of a tourist area there were a lot of European’s and European resturaunts we could barely find any traditional African food or street food anywhere.
“My favorite part of Africa was the food,” Brian said.
When my family and I went to Robben Island, it was cool that we got to see Nelson Mandela’s prison cell and learn what happened there. We also learned what the people did to be imprisoned.
“Most inmates, including Nelson Mandela, were black men incarcerated for political offenses. The last of these prisoners were released in 1991,” website Britannica said.
My family and I were really sad to leave Africa. It was super fun, and I’ve even learned stuff about Africa and their culture and the country overall. My favorite thing I did in Africa was when we went to Table Mountain, which was fun, and I got to see a Mountain Hyrax.
“The mountain is rich in diverse wildlife, including the rock hyrax and a rare species of frog aptly named the Table Mountain Ghost Frog, as it can only be found in this area,” said Google Arts & Culture
